The ScoutGuard SG550 is a 5MP Infrared Digital Trail Camera that is
compact and lightweight and designed for most any scouting or surveillance
application in mind. The unit features a 22 long range Infrared emitters that
provide illumination up to 40 feet at night that will reduce spooking game
animals or alerting unwanted persons to its location. The ScoutGuard SG550
digital trail camera takes not only still images but movie clips up to 640x480
pixels which will provide clear video when played back on a television.
The unit also features a unique remote control that is similar in size to an
IPOD that allows for easy programming of the camera.
The camera stores images and video clips via an SD card but has no internal
memory. Therefore it is recommended that the user purchase two SD cards
so you can exchange one card for another when checking the camera unless
you have a device that will connect to the USB port on the camera. The
camera will accept up to a 2GB SD card. The unit can also be connected to a
computer using a USB connection or to a TV with RCA cables for playback of
movies and pictures.
The camera operates on 8 AA batteries though you can run it on 4 but will
see a significantly shorter battery life if you choose to do so. Reports and
tests on these cameras seem to be indicating that one can expect to get
approximately 2,000 plus pictures on a set of batteries!
